As the lunar year 1446 of the Islamic Hijri calendar begins, we are reminded of the historic and monumental Hijrah (migration) journey of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ from Makkah al-Mukarramah to Madinah al-Munawwarah — a journey that not only reshaped the course of Islamic history but also set a timeless example of sacrifice, perseverance, and unwavering faith.

Migration has been an intrinsic part of human existence, driven by the quest for better opportunities, the pursuit of education, the need to escape conflict, persecution, and the impacts of climate change and natural disasters. However, in Islam, migration holds a profound spiritual significance that transcends physical movement.

Islamic teachings define two types of migration:

  1. Physical Migration: This entails relocating from one place to another in search of an environment that allows for the free and faithful practice of Islam. The Holy Qur’an states,“Was not the earth of Allah spacious enough for you to emigrate therein?” (Qur’an Ch 4: V97). This underscores the importance of seeking a haven where one can live in accordance with Islamic principles.
  1. Spiritual Migration: This is the migration of the heart towards Allah Ta’ala and His Messengerﷺ. It represents the essence of true Hijrah, where one turns away from sin and strives for Divine proximity. Allah Ta’ala commands, “So flee to Allah (from disbelief to pure Monotheism), verily, I (Muhammad ﷺ) am a clear warner to you from Him.” (Qur’an Ch 51: V50).

A Muhaajir (migrator), in its truest sense, is one who abandons sin and endeavors towards the obedience of Allah Ta’ala. This spiritual journey is continuous and reflects the Muslim’s innate drive to attain higher spiritual levels and closeness to the Divine.

Central to this spiritual journey is the consumption of Halaal food, which is a Divine commandment that ensures spiritual purity and nourishment. A Muslim must be vigilant about their dietary choices, as consuming Halaal sustains righteousness and engenders righteous actions. Any neglect in this regard impedes one’s spiritual migration.

For the past 28 years, SANHA has been dedicated to facilitating this journey by striving towards the highest standards of Halaal certification. Our mission has been to provide Muslims with the assurance that their food meets stringent Halaal criteria, thus aiding their spiritual journey from Muharram to Dhul Hijjah and beyond.

We invite you to support our ongoing mission by sharing your valuable feedback, ideas, and suggestions. Your constructive input will help us refine our services and continue our commitment to Halaal integrity.

Together, let us embark on this journey towards spiritual elevation and Divine closeness, guided by the principles of Islam and the legacy of our Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
