Issue No. 214 – November 2022: Rabi’ ath-Thaani 1444
Yes! Pakistan welcomes you to the 3rd Pakistan-Africa Trade Development Conference and Single Country Exhibition next week in Johannesburg.
Pakistan is the second largest economy in South Asia. It is also the sixth most populous country in the world and has a young and growing population of around 200 million, with a burgeoning middle class.
With cordial relations going back since their independence 75 years ago in opposing apartheid, trade today between Pakistan and South Africa exceeds US $ 2.07 billion. This is at the cusp of exciting change with the prestigious two-day event next week.
140 exhibitors from a wide range of industries, bolstered by a high-level ministerial delegation will showcase a wide array of merchandise and services offering entrepreneurs numerous opportunities to connect and partner with international brands, products and technologies.
The exciting merchandise mix will include agriculture, leather and plastic articles, auto parts, cement, construction, cutlery and kitchenware, electromechanical machinery (pumps, generators, transformers, motors), engineering, home appliances, IT, packaging, paints and chemicals, pharmaceuticals, rice, seafood and meat, spices, salt and processed foods, solar, sporting goods, steel and cables, surgical instruments, textiles and apparel and tractors. Of special interest with our scourge of load shedding will be solar products and technologies.
Trade is the lifeblood of nations and is inextricably linked to their development and progress. As an internationally recognized Halaal certifying authority, we are keen to assist with ensuring that exciting trade opportunities are unlocked for entrepreneurs amongst which is the provision of Halaal. Halaal has evolved from being a purely religious matter to one of trade, consumer rights and cross-border transactions. The aspiration of the Halaal consumer is no different from others in that they are looking for foods with nutrition, new taste experiences and most importantly food safety issues amongst which a trusted Halaal mark is a prime requisite. We endorse this initiative and will be on hand to offer our expertise and guidance, Insha Allah.
