Issue No.126 – June 2023 : Thul Hijjah 1444
The Prophet (peace be upon him) is reported to have said: “There are no days in
which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days (The first
ten days of the month of Dhul-Hijjaah).” The people asked, “Not even jihad for
the sake of Allah?” He said, “Not even jihad for the sake of Allah, except in the
case of a man who went out to fight giving himself and his wealth up for the
cause, and came back with nothing.” (Bukhari).
The first days of Dhul-Hijjaah will soon dawn upon us. According to the above
narration righteous deeds done in these days hold a special merit in the sight of the
Almighty Allah in that they are more beloved to Allah Ta’ala than the same act done
in any other days. As Muslims worldwide observe and uphold the sacredness of
these days it is imperative that we remind ourselves that every action of
righteousness has pre-requisites for acceptance in the Divine Court.
At the core of these prerequisites is the consumption of Halaal. In the words of the
Prophet of Allah (peace be upon him):
“A person tosses a Haraam morsel into his stomach and as a result his deeds
are not accepted for forty days.” (At-Tabaraani & Al-Bayhaqi)
In these blessed days may the Almighty Allah endow us with the ability of
upholding Halaal consumption even more rigidly than before as the acceptance of
our Ibaadah squarely hinges on this, Aameen.
