Alhamdulillah, on the historic occasion of the 60th anniversary of Rainbow Chickens,
SANHA is pleased to confirm and record that our senior Ulama predecessors had, after in-depth research, lengthy deliberations and wide consultations with great luminaries across the globe, the likes of the Grand Mufti of Pakistan, Mufti Shafi Saheb rahimahullah, embarked on the Halaal certification of commercial poultry abattoirs.

Seniors of the then Jamiatul Ulama Natal, viz. Moulana Abdur Rahman Ansari, Moulana
Cassim Sema and Moulana Abdul Haq Omarjee rahimahumullah were among the first
to lay the foundation of a Halaal certification program for the Rainbow Chicken plant in
Hammarsdale in 1967.

By Allah Ta’ala’s Grace and Mercy, six decades later, both Halaal traders as well as
Muslim consumers have easy access to Halaal slaughtered poultry, which is the primary
source of protein for many in our country and abroad.

Like all other areas of Islamic activity in our country, the Halaal Regulatory, Certification
and Monitoring service too has developed and improved over the years in leaps and
bounds, for which we are extremely grateful to Allah Ta’ala. SANHA is thus proud of the
legacy of our Ulama forebears and continue to strive in their noble footsteps in serving the
Ummah.

We assure the Muslim community that all Halaal-certified commercial poultry products may
be consumed with absolute confidence.
