“The most beloved deeds to Allah Ta’ala are those that are consistent, even if they are few.” (Bukhari).

Ramadhaan annually affords every Muslim the perfect training ground in consistency. The institution of Ramadhaan, itself observed continuously for more than fourteen centuries, is a living testament to this consistency.

Foregoing the basic need of food and drink purely seeking the Pleasure of Allah Ta’ala and submitting to the Divine decree for 30 consecutive days, is a testament to not only one’s faith but also one’s resolve. Collective consistency throughout the month by Muslims around the globe is nothing but admirable.

Living in a diverse and multicultural society, through interaction and well wishes extended from the Presidency through to institutions and establishments, many non-Muslims are introduced to Islam.

It is a perennial opportunity for us to demonstrate the beauty of Islam through our deeds and actions. Let us not waste or let slip these golden opportunities this Ramadhaan by being foolish or careless in our conduct. Allah Ta’ala does not require the fasting of a person who is not prepared to leave vile speech, frivolous talk or acts of injustice in the month of Ramadhaan.

Similarly, a Muslims’ diet too is strictly regulated. In Ramadhaan one’s guard should go up even higher for there is no merit in fasting and worship when one’s diet is compromised with Haraam, albeit even if it be inadvertently.

Wishing all Muslims a peaceful and fulfilling Ramadhaan
