Honouring the Prophet ﷺ Through Halaal

Rabiʿ al-Awwal: Renewing our commitment to the teachings of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ

Rabiʿ al-Awwal marks the blessed month in which the Final Messenger of Allah ﷺ was born. For believers, remembering his blessed life is not merely an occasion for reflection, but an opportunity to renew our commitment to his teachings and Sunnah.

Among the matters he emphasised was the importance of consuming what is Halaal and pure. Allah Almighty says:

“O Messengers! Eat from the good things and act righteously.”
(Surah al-Mu’minun, 23:51)

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ also warned of the spiritual consequences of consuming what is unlawful. In a narration recorded in Sahih Muslim, he explained that Allah Almighty is Pure and accepts only that which is pure, highlighting the effect of unlawful food and nourishment on the acceptance of one’s supplication.

Halaal, therefore, is far more than a dietary requirement. It is an act of obedience and an important part of a believer’s spiritual life. What we consume should be lawful, wholesome and free from that which compromises our faith and worship.

In today’s increasingly complex food industry, with numerous ingredients, additives, global supply chains and questionable Halaal claims, remaining vigilant is more important than ever. Consumers may encounter unauthorised or fraudulent Halaal logos and claims, making reliable Halaal certification an essential safeguard.

As we enter Rabiʿ al-Awwal, let us honour the Messenger of Allah ﷺ by putting his teachings into practice, including being conscious of what we eat and ensuring that our sustenance is Halaal and Tayyib.

For three decades, SANHA has remained committed to safeguarding Halaal integrity and assisting consumers in making informed and confident Halaal choices.

May Allah Almighty grant us the ability to follow the Sunnah of His Beloved Messenger ﷺ, seek only what is Halaal and pure, and make our sustenance a means of attaining His pleasure. Ameen.
